IAA Staff Gear Up for New Fiscal Year

first_imgMr. Nyeswa at addresses a recent function. The management and staff of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA) will from July 2–6 hold a retreat to evaluate its performance during the just-ending fiscal year, and finalize the Agency’s annual plan for 2018/19 fiscal year.Amongst the many anti-graft agencies in the public sector, the IAA believes it is the only integrity institution structured to actively support more than 50 institutions of government on a day to day basis. The IAA offers the first line of defense in the fight against corruption, and has the legal mandate and institutional design to prevent fraud, waste and abuse. In a statement issued yesterday, the management of IAA noted that it is acutely aware that to accomplish this feat of helping government institutions accomplish their objectives in a systematic, and disciplined manner, being fully compliant with the laws, regulations and policies, its strategy needs to clearly delineate its programs, set performance goals, and be aligned to the overarching pro-poor agenda of the government. The retreat, which will be held at IAA’s proposed new office in Congo Town, will focus on perusing and endorsing critical documents of the institution such as the IAA’s five year (2018 – 2023), the Internal Audit Manual, the revised Human Resource Manual, amongst others. As a prelude to the Retreat, several committees comprising IAA’s Executives, Sector Directors, Directors and Managers have been established to formulate, review, update and/or amend some of the Agency’s policies and plans to meet the demands of the pro-poor administration. As the new government begins its new fiscal year, the Agency says it is cognizant of the pressing need to adapt its assurance and advisory activities to meet the challenges faced by the public sector. While planning is important, implementation of the plan is even more crucial. Therefore, emphasis will be placed on the fundamental issue of ensuring efficiency in implementation to guarantee success and add value to the ministries, agencies and commissions we serve. All departments including the Audit Department, Human Resource, Finance, External Relations, Administration and Communications Departments will present their annual workplans which are anchored to the Agency’s annual plan.Representatives of the Civil Service Agency, the Public Procurement and Concession Commission, Price Waterhouse Cooper (PWC), including Hon. Tiberosa Tarponweh and the Comptroller and Accountant General of Liberia will make presentations and remarks at the retreat. On the last day, the rest of IAA’s workforce will join those at the Retreat to end the week-long brainstorming and planning session. The aim of bringing all IAA’s employees together is to re-invigorate the team spirit and foster interactions between and amongst employees of the Agency.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img read more
