Ryan Kalil on why he signed with Jets: ‘I just felt like I had more football’

first_imgIt appeared like Ryan Kalil’s time in the NFL was over after 2018, but the star center surprisingly decided to join the Jets for one season after realizing he had more in the tank.Kalil, who spent the first 12 seasons of his professional career with the Panthers, shed light on his choice Saturday. “I just had a hard time moving on,” Kalil said, via NorthJersey.com. “I had a hard time turning the page. … Especially after coming off 2018 healthy, feeling great, feeling spry again, I just felt like I had more football.”Kalil retired with Carolina in December and moved back to southern California, where he’s from. And March came around and I just started getting the itch again.” Kalil, 34, signed a one-year, $8.4 million deal with the Jets. He’ll have to meet some incentives to get all that money, but the five-time Pro-Bowl player didn’t take much of a pay cut — he made $9.75 million in 2018. New York is optimistic he can help it improve from last year’s 4-12 season. Mechanic stabbed to death at Plaisance

first_imgA father of one was fatally stabbed at the Plaisance Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara, where he hadDead: Orretta Westgone to party, on Friday morning by a man with whom he allegedly had an old grievance.Orrette West, 29, of Tucville Terrace, East La Penitence, Georgetown, was stabbed to his chest and abdomen by his attacker who immediately fled the scene.Reports are that West was dancing with a female when an argument broke out between him and the suspect during which the suspect whipped out a knife and dealt him the fatal stabs.After being stabbed West was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he succumbed.When Guyana Times visited the mother of the dead man at her GuyHoc, Greater Georgetown home, she explained that her son left home just before midnight on Thursday with a group of friends as they normally would to the party on Plaisance ‘Line Top’.According to the grieving mother, at about 01:30h, she heard a car honking in front of her yard and went to inquire, and was told that her son was stabbed. The woman said she panicked and sent her other sons to the hospital to check on West. After sometime, she got the dreaded news. The mother noted that at the time of her son’s death he was with another woman while his child-mother was at her home and his fiancé at his house in Tucville.She related that she could not say if the stabbing stemmed from an old grievance and noted that she would not vow for her dead son. The mother noted that her son was hardworking but he loved to go out with his friends.Meanwhile, the dead man’s fiancé posited that she was at work when she got the call about the fatal stabbing. On the other hand, West’s child-mother, who was almost in tears, did not offer a comment.The Police in a release stated that they are investigating the murder of West, which occurred at about 00:30 on Friday.Police are continuing their investigation as the suspect has still not been apprehended.
