Wenger rumours – ‘I don’t think there was a chance’ Flamini tells talkSPORT

first_img1 Arsene Wenger signed a new contract with Arsenal Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini believes there was no chance of boss Arsene Wenger leaving the club at the end of last season, praising the Gunners chief’s impact on the club and his career.Prior to the club’s FA Cup victory in May, rumours claimed that Wenger was considering his future at the Emirates, but he quelled such speculation by agreeing a three-year contract extension.Speaking at the launch of Arsenal’s new Puma manufactured home and away kits, Flamini told talkSPORT that he didn’t think for one second that Wenger would leave though.“To be honest I don’t think there was a chance [of Wenger leaving].“He means so much to this club and he’s done so much for this club and Arsene Wenger for me represents Arsenal.“He has been here for so long and he brought the club from one stage to another one, so I was not surprised when he signed a new contract.”Flamini was brought to north London as a 20-year-old by Wenger and – perhaps fittingly – commented on his own situation as he modelled Arsenal’s alternative away strip dubbed the ‘future’ edition.“This club means a lot to me. It’s played a big role in my career and Arsene Wenger has too, as he’s the one who bought me when I was 20 years old. I feel at home here.“If you ask me whether this will be my last club, I don’t know because I’m still 30 years old, I still have a few years in front of me. I really feel at home here and hopefully we have a positive year.”last_img read more
