TAMPA, FL – JANUARY 09: Head coach Nick Saban of the Alabama Crimson Tide talks with head coach Dabo Swinney of the Clemson Tigers after the Tigers defeated the Crimson Tide 35-31 in the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship Game at Raymond James Stadium on January 9, 2017 in Tampa, Florida. (Photo by Streeter Lecka/Getty Images)Clemson and Alabama have split their four meetings the last four seasons. They’ve also split the last four national championships.Did we mention they have identical records over that time span? It is pretty obvious that the college football hierarchy right now is Alabama, Clemson and then everyone else. Will we see that hierarchy stay intact and the arrival of Clemson-Alabama V in 2019? Dabo Swinney certainly thinks so.Today, Swinney told reporters that he told Nick Saban after last night’s game that he’ll “see you next year.”Dabo: I told coach Saban “see you next year” because I know they’ll be back.Yep.— Ralph D. Russo (@ralphDrussoAP) January 8, 2019Does anyone really want to bet against Dabo here? That loss last night was crushing for the Crimson Tide but it shouldn’t stop them from loading back up for next fall.Clemson and Alabama should enter next season as the top two teams in preseason polls. There’s a strong chance they will both be in the playoff again. That might be boring for some college football fans, but it seems to suit Swinney just fine.
