Arnett’s Dicoy Williams punishes former club Harbour View in Red Stripe Premier League

first_img Boys’ Town 1 Portmore United 2 FC Reno 0 Montego Bay United 2 Maverley-Hughenden 2 Jamalco 3 Humble Lion 1 Waterhouse 0 Tivoli Gardens 1 UWI FC 2 Arnett Gardens 1 Harbour View 0 Dicoy Williams punished his former club, Harbour View FC, when he scored for Arnett Gardens in a 1-0 victory in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex in Trench Town, St Andrew, yesterday. Williams played a big role as he also marshalled the backline to ensure a clean sheet. He found the winner for Arnett Gardens, popularly named ‘Junglists’, in the 12th minute. “It was a good performance from the team following a loss last week to Humble Lion. We stuck in and came away with the three points,” Williams, who was duly adjudged Man of the Match, told The Gleaner. “It was definitely a big plus for me to score the winning goal. I had said to myself before the game that I have scored many goals in the Premier League and want to continue doing that. My aim is to score at least five goals this season,” the central defender disclosed. Williams transferred from Harbour View, know also as Stars of the East, three seasons ago and holds no grudge against his former club. “Harbour View has done well for me. It wasn’t anything special to score against them. It is a regular game for me,” the 29-year-old pointed out. Arnett won the title two seasons ago, but finished third last season, and Williams said the aim is to win the Premier League again. “The goal is to build a family of players just like we did when we won the title. Last season was not good. We have to focus on team unity and spirit in order to challenge for the championship title,” the former national defender said. With regards to representing the national team again, Williams said: “There is always hope to play for Jamaica.” Arnett’s head coach Jerome ‘Jerry’ Waite said his team should have won by a wider margin. “We created numerous goalscoring chances, especially Lennox Russell, who missed three chances, and Damari Deacon, who missed one chance. We played in spurts, but it was an important win,” Waite said. Harbour View’s captain John-Ross Edwards was the best player for his team. The midfielder troubled Arnett with his dribbling and passes. However, striker Ross Burton was ineffective upfront. Yesterday’s Resultslast_img read more
